The flight was intended to reach St. Lucia but ended in a devastating crash into the sea near Bequia Island in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Mr. Oliver, along with his 10 and 12-year-old daughters, were the only passengers on the single-engine aircraft when it plunged into the ocean around noon, as reported by the Royal St. Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force.
The police confirmed the fatalities of Mr. Oliver, his daughters, and pilot Mr. Sachs. Local fishermen and divers discovered the bodies and handed them over to the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Coast Guard for further procedures.
Authorities stated that the plane faced difficulties and crashed shortly after departing from J.F. Mitchell Airport in Bequia. However, the exact cause of the crash remains under investigation.
The Cause
The SVG Coast Guard promptly responded to the crash, recovering all four victims from the sea. Post-mortem examinations are scheduled to take place in St. Vincent in the coming days.
Klepser’s representatives issued a statement expressing condolences for Mr. Oliver, his daughters, and their family.
While the reason behind the crash remains unclear, the Eastern Caribbean Civil Aviation Authority is actively gathering information to aid the ongoing investigation.
The U.S. State Department has pledged full support and assistance to the affected families during this distressing time.
