Are you strikingly similar to the undead? If so, you might be the ideal choice to appear as a zombie extra in the new season of AMC’s hit show “The Walking Dead: Dead City,” which starts production in the Boston region next month.
For Season 2 of the “Walking Dead” spinoff, Kendall Cooper Casting is seeking volunteers in the Boston region of all ages and backgrounds to portray “walkers, soldiers, post-apocalyptic survivors, and various other extra roles.” The casting call was issued on Wednesday.

The town of Randolph would be one of several in the Boston area used for filming, which is scheduled to take place from April through July, according to a person familiar with the production, despite the casting notice’s lack of information regarding filming sites.
AMC is seeking individuals with “weathered faces” to portray post-apocalyptic survivors, “athletes and people with military or law enforcement experience” to play soldiers, and “very thin, tall, and have flexible/available schedules” to play walkers—the network’s term for zombies.
Extras should be anticipated to work more than twelve hours a day. While some extras may be selected for recurrent roles during the three-month production of the show, others may only be requested to work one or two days.
The two main protagonists of “The Walking Dead” spinoff “The Walking Dead: Dead City” are Maggie (Lauren Cohan) and Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan). In the first season, which debuted in June 2023 and was shot in New Jersey, Maggie and Negan faced up against a brand-new adversary named the Croat (Željko Ivanek).
Professionals in the local film industry will be hopeful that “The Walking Dead: Dead City” lives up to the expectations of fans of AMC’s previous Boston-based series. After filming in the Boston region in 2020 and 2021, the dark comedy “Kevin Can F*** Himself” concluded after just two seasons. That’s still preferable to “Invitation to a Bonfire,” a prestige drama starring Tatiana Maslany (“Stronger”) that AMC canceled after four of the six episodes had already aired due to company-wide budget cuts.
